What type of lubricant is used in the manual steering gear box?

My '68 service manual says use a water resistant EP chassis lubricant,,,,,,,,sounds like axle grease to me !!!!!

chassis grease, check owners manual, it wil tell you, axles use oil, not grease

sorry 68 & 68,,,,,,axle grease is what some of you may refer to as wheel bearing grease,,,,,,,,I grew up in the hills, so this must come from when we had to put the wooden wheels back on our wagons!!!!!! Cool how different parts of the country have different terms for things !!!!!
