Trans-tcase removal

Anyone have a suggestion on the easiest way to pull them? Split them and drop separately or together? Don't have a lift but I do have a trans Jack and motorcycle lift that fits under my truck.

motor cycle lift should spread it out better . then some good blocks of wood to level it out . and a few ratchet straps to secure it down . and its going to want to roll to the side the front output is on cause of the weight over there .

if its a older truck with floor hump that can be unbolted some guys have had good luck with engine hoist threw the door open and lower/lift it this way .

If it were me doing it by myself, like it was when I did a few months ago on my K5, I'd do them seperate. In my opinion it's much easier to manage each of them by themselves. I just had a regular floor jack and some wood blocks, it worked just fine.

That's gonna be alot of weight in one chunk...not to mention it'll be awkward and lopsided...without a good working surface and good lifting equipment, I would split them apart...much easier to handle

Got the T-case out this evening. It wasn't too bad; took about 45 minutes. I have a feeling putting it back in is gonna take 3-4 times as long thanks to gravity. Tommorow I'll pull the trans. Seems no matter what, your gonna end up with trans fluid all over the place. I could tell by the look on my wifes face she wasn't impressed with the mess on the driveway.

Turn the Gravity "Off" before you start back together!

Got that some ***** out! Actually it wasn't too difficult especially with that motorcycle lift. It's off to the tranny shop tomorrow for a performance rebuild. That lift doesn't work worth a **** for my motorcycle but it worked damn good for the trans. I'm gonna bolt everything together and see if there's a balance issue before installation. The wide base and lifting surface may be stable enough that it stays put long enough to get it up and get the bellhousing and x- member in place.

even if you bolt it together just use a reg jack under the pass side of the t-case to balance it.

and have the trans shop upgrade the accumulator piston from the plastic to the older aluminum version if they dont already do this .
