72 4wd to 2wd conversion questions

I have puchased a 72 4wd Blazer and am in the process of converting it to a 2wd. Originally I planned to use a 74 rear leaf set-up due to the ease and cost. I have read that a trailing arm set-up would ride much better than the leaf set-up. I'm having a hard time locating a correct 5 lug rear. Last night an individual informed me that I could use my 74 5 lug c10 rear with an adjustable parnhard bar and trailing arm perches due to a desired 8" drop with flip kit. Have any of you went this route and do I go about it to maintain stability and be centered.

Well, not sure what he's talking about but I adapted a leaf perch mount rear end to a trailing arm truck by cutting off the leaf mounts and welding on trailing arm mounts. If you use the longer aftermarket adjustable panhrd bar it attaches to the end of the passengers arm by an adapter plate. It will work.

So I do attach the aftermarket adjustable panhard bar to the back end of the passenger trailing arm? Can I use factory 67-72 trailing arms? What did you use for the coil spring plates? My neighbor used air bag plates and welded them on the outer side of the 4wd frame.

I used the later rear end on an earlier truck so the frame was already a coil spring frame. Since the 4wd frame is narrower (actually it is straight instead of flared out like the 2wd) you would have to make some kind of adapter plate for the top of the spring or air bag. I see a few guys are using the Deadend Garage stuff for these conversions. Here is a bolt in c-notch with bag mount. Not sure if you want to fab all this stuff yourself.

I used 2wd Chevy trailing arms, made spring perches out of 5" x 5" x 3/8" steel plate, x2
They go under frame and 3" x 3" steel angle 5" long on side, an adjustable panhard bar, modified 2wd shock cross member.
