Fitech throttle linkage help
I replaced the existing Edelbrock 600cfm carb with Fitech's 400hp unit on my 350/Th350 setup. My question is what are you guys using to marry up your throttle linkage. The current one doesn't quite reach as it also hits the chrome bracket below it when in full throttle position. I have the bar type setup and need to figure out what's needed to run the new one correctly. I've attached a pic of what my currrent setup looks like. Any pics/suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Re: Fitech throttle linkage help
It looks like your threaded rod is bent but you need to turn that connector counterclockwise until it lines up with the center of the large hole. You need to purchase a rubber grommet with a sleeve in the center of it then it will fit in the large hole. Slip the cotter key in the little hole and there you have it. Holly should have the grommet you need to go in that big hole.

Re: Fitech throttle linkage help
pic 1
Threaded rod pushed into hole. This is how the original was setup but the angle of the bar is off with the Fitech. pic 2 Threaded rod hitting the chrome tab at WOT, bracket was also with the original setup. pic 3 Threaded rod parallel with carb. I'm assuming it needs to look this way only connected. Any input? |

Re: Fitech throttle linkage help
A bracket like this might do it. It bolts on to yours and offsets the rod.

Re: Fitech throttle linkage help
.
I'm not running your EFI system but I had the same issue. With my EFI being a Holley 4150 form factor ( MSD Atomic ), I bought a throttle/tranny cable bracket from TrickFlow that ~should~ have done the trick for my setup ( See Pic ), but it ended up having the same issue as the other brackets I'd tried... The throttle blade actuator arm at the carb/TBI is misaligned with the throttle cable and transmission cable ( TV in my case ). I have not found a suitable solution just yet. Hoping you do so we can both benefit! I've looked through lots of Lokar and other vendor parts at the shows but haven't found the magic thing to fix it. Since it's a cable system though, it persists as is and will as long as I keep it lubed and in good operation. The cam on the TV cable is my real worry as it is getting worn and eats the cable a bit. Re: Fitech throttle linkage help
Weg92 - I don't think you have your TV cable installed correctly. If I remember correctly (I'll check when I get home) the cable should go clockwise and go up and over the pulley.
Looking at it closer, you may have had to do it that way with your throttle set up. My throttle stuff is stock using an Eddie and BTO TV setup. Last edited by randy.powell; 10-18-2018 at 12:41 PM. Reason: On Second Look... |

Re: Fitech throttle linkage help
Weg92 - Just out of curiosity, why aren't you using the throttle spring setup that came with the Trick Flow bracket?

So... I tossed the Trick springs and went with what you see in the pics which is a very light spring as backup to the one built into the EFI unit. -klb

Re: Fitech throttle linkage help
You may have something here! After this recent top end build I may have not got it back together properly! Have been concentrating on a bunch of other stuff. I see a cable groove going around both sides of the cam and so I think it can be routed either way. Also, that cam is adjustable to make the cable do different things as the throttle is moved through its arc.
The TrickFlow bracket replaced a Bowtie Overdrives bracket that was even more misaligned. The cam linkage is from Bowtie also. -klb Quote:

Re: Fitech throttle linkage help
I run a FAST EZ EFI bracket /hardware kit that I have had no problems with mounted to my fitech EFI ,I have had both a 400 th trans and now running a 2004r with detent cable .and along with a throttle rod. summit racing sells them they are expensive but work perfect , I found a couple reveiws at summit racing that had positive reveiws on the fast ez efi bracket kit that the fitech efi worked well with this kit before I purchased it . it was worth the money to not have any issues at all on my daily driver set it and forgot it.
