Putting a Dynacorn SWB (steel floor) together right now. Kind of a pain to get everything to line up (holes). Will put on the passenger bedside tomorrow. Will need to do some cutting an hammering to get the steel flap to slid in the tailgate area. I measured and there is 1/8 inch difference which is just enough to where it will nor slide in easily. The big problem is the steel floor by the tailgate area is not square (1/8 inch is all it takes to cause fitment issues). Wish my stock bed was not so rusted. The two stock bedsides had the lips where they bolt to the steel floor rusted so I went with a repro (and some dings in the sides). I will trade the old bedsides for some parts from my local Chevy truck store. He is a body man and will not have much trouble repairing them.

Got it together and it looks great. Really sucked to put it together (especially the wheel well tubs). Too much twisting and some reaming of bolt holes to get it all to fit together. Would go with a wood floor next time because you would be able to square up the bed and then drill the perimeter holes in the wood. The steel bed floor was off 1/4 inch where the tailgate and bedside meet on the right side. This caused some of the bolt holes on the perimeter to be off some. Wish my original bed was not so rusted.

I have purchased cab corners and rocker panels from AMD and was very pleased. There is also a retailer pretty close to me so that works out well.

ok, I'll play along. We just fitted TriPlus bedsides (everything else is OE).
They aren't perfect by any means, but they are hefty. Here are some pics of things not right that we had to adjust.






Driver's side:
Front panel will not sit far up enough within the bedside to align.
Needed cut. Also, there's a weld on the top/inside that needed hammered on also.




Driver's side:
Holes not aligning right. We drilled them out and used larger bolts.








Passenger's side:
Same thing.






Tailgate alignment = ok




Driver's front of bed slightly lower.
I used rubber/tar like shimms that came with the wood kit to correct.
Shimmed cross sill to frame.




The driver's side top rail was bent too much over where it connects with the stake hole.
This caused an unlevel look in the middle.
To correct it, we busted the spot welds and allowed it to release.




I doubt you'll get anything perfect.
Yellow marks tiny dings etc... that will need attention.








Other than that they are ok.




Sorry for showing off my new bed wood floor Robert It was wood originally.
We're almost finished with it. Need to drill the perimeter holes in the wood for the bedsides/tubs and paint.

Very nice. Mine is a Dynacorn bed. Did not notice any dings on the outer bedside (or anywhere else for that matter). FYI - bolt heads on the front bed panel go on the outside of the bed (per the assembly manual).

I used a Woodall floor and Mar-k head board with factory bedsides and every bolt fit perfect. very very happy with the parts

I had bought a repro Woodall fender, only to find it wasn't stamped right. No fixing this. Got my money back and replaced it with an OE donor.

Well -- just to correct my comments from several months ago, I picked up my new bedsides from AMD yesterday. I got the bedsides, front panel (wood) and inner wheel tubs for $1139 picked up. All the OE beds I have found were steel floor, rusted around the normal areas and $1k minimum. If I went the OE route I would have changed out the steel floor, front panel, cross sills, etc. so I would have had $1k in two crusty bedsides needing blasted... and of course worked quite a bit.

AMD bedsides are nice fellas. I'd consider them for sure. I'll post up some pictures when I can.

Where is AMD located? What was the deciding factor for choosing them over So. classics or GMCpauls? Also, did you get a chance to check out their gates? Thanks in advance.

I know a guy that owns a parts store, I got them through his store but my pricing is a little better if you know what I mean I have known him for 25+ yrs. I asked him if he'd want to sell more at that price and he said no. .. sigh. I talked to him back before Christmas and the pricing wasn't much better than their website. .. however; I talked to him a few weeks ago and apparently they had an overstock situation and he could get better pricing for them.. so I jumped on them.

AMD - Auto Metal Direct They are located in Cleveland GA as I understand it. Heavy guage stuff and the decision for me was the price. The whole bed kit from SoKy was $2k+. I bought a nice GM tailgate back before Christmas, it was taken off a low milage truck and put in storage. It hadn't seen the light of day for a lonnngg long time. Original paint, basically an NOS gate off maybe a 10-15k mile truck.. it has a few character scratches on it.

I just need cross sills and the rear bed panel, of course hinges, tail light housings, etc. .. and I'll be all set.

I wish I could get more bedsides I'd pass along the savings to you guys but it was a once in a lifetime deal.

Looks great (love the paint color). On the holes that do not align you may be able to use a long screw driver and "pull" them in line (if they are not too far off). If I had to do it over again I would compare the two panels and do some measurement to see if they are the same. If they were not then I would return them. The final result looks really good. I have attached some rear end photos.

Finally got my truck back from the body and paint shop. They did a great job. Unfortunately they took my door pillar VIN plate off when they painted it. Not real happy about that. At least they did not throw the plate out. Now I will need to rivet it back on.

An old thread, but still relevant and worth reviving, and I'm wondering (considering 4+ years old), are things still relatively the same?

It's been commented these parts are all sourced from the same place, but I don't know this if this is the case or not.(?)

A list of 'brands/labels' (at least that I've seen):

Woodall
TriPlus
KeyParts
AMD
Dynacorn (GoldenLeaf the same??)
Goodmark

With the above 'labels', It appears (only from what I've read on forums) folks have used Woodall, Triplus and AMD with acceptable/good results.

Can anyone comment on other 'labels' that they've had acceptable/good results with?
As well, can anyone comment on 'labels' they consider NOT acceptable?

I'm simply trying to narrow to what brand/label to go with (and/or those to avoid).

Next is price paid. I understand this will differ with vendor AND brand/label. But I'm just trying to get an idea on what the going rate is (with a focus on the acceptable panels)

I am looking primarily at (shortbed) bedside panels and metal floor (since I plan to use my original panels for the rest). The best prices I've seen today are roughly $500 each for the bedsides and about $750 for the floor. A few more $$ will be saved with a discount/coupon and picking up in person.
I want to confirm the label/brand for the prices I'm looking at since as we all know, the 'best' price could end up being for the worse parts.
