Rear Floor to Cab Braces??

Replacing the Floor in my 67 Cab, cannot find a definative answer on why some cabs have the braces between the rear of the cab and the floor like pictured below. Mine has them but the drivers side is in pretty bad shape. Are these year specific, model specific, option specific? I am trying to locate a used one for a replacement

Re: Rear Floor to Cab Braces??

All the 67s I've ever had had them. I've never owned a 68 but have had 2 69s that both didn"t hahe them. Not sure why the change but it makes it a bit easier to replace the floor with them on.

Re: Rear Floor to Cab Braces??

CHEWYCHEVY67 thanks for the reply, I thought originally it was year specific myself but I posted this same question on a Facebook C10 Page and got numerous responses.

1 guy said they were a C20 thing, said his 68 C20 has them.
1 guy said they were GMC only
1 guy said they were for larger fuel tank mounts, nothing to do with cab structure??

Re: Rear Floor to Cab Braces??

So, the only trend I'm seeing is it seems to be only the 67-68 Cabs that have them

My '69 3/4 ton Chevy (built Dec. 1968 at Fremont) does not have them.

Re: Rear Floor to Cab Braces??

For the record, I've had 3 of these trucks. None of them had them. I know that 2 of them were from Baltimore. I've had a 1968; and two different 1970 model trucks. The '68 and one of the 70's were 1/2 tons, and the second '70 model was a 3/4 ton. NONE of them had these braces.

Again, just data points. I put a floor in one of the '70's trucks, but did nothing to the floor of the others. Please note, I was not the original owner of any of these trucks, but took all of them completely apart. I believe they were original.

Good luck figuring it out.

I have a 3/4 ton Chevy, it has them and they are some serious reinforcement
doesn't answer but maybe the gas tank support quote is good logical point.
