How can we get a 3" raked lift in the rear of my bud's leaf spring truck?

My buddy's C10 has leaf springs in the rear and it sits almost perfectly level. What he'd like to do is get the back end to sit up about 3 inches higher than the front. What's the best way to accomplish this? Would adding 1500lb coil overs on the shocks be enough to do this or would adding another leaf to the spring pack be good enough? If we didn't want to sacrifice ride quality, would installing a single leaf be better? Thanks in advance!

smaller tires upfront and larger tires in the rear is the easiest way next would be lowering springs in the front

Why not just install some lowering/lifting blocks?? On these trucks, the axle is below the leaf springs, so adding blocks would raise the rear end.

Blocks are the cheapest and easiest way to go. I would take that route

hey, blocks are cheap but i would not use them because they make the rear hop more during acceleration. i dont even have blocks and i had to make a traction bar to control mine. i would look at the shackle in the back, and put the passenger one on the driver side and the driver side on the passanger side so the shackle goes down not up. i think that would work? or make no hangers and weld them lower on the frame. wheel hop is bad, thats all i know. good luck, Ben

Leaf springs are only $70 a pair, why not just add a leaf? It'll be proper, Won't adding a leaf lift the rear end up even if it doesn't touch the other arches? It'll act as a shim almost right? doesn't 1 leaf five you like 2 inches or so??

You could do any of the ways mentioned above, all have their pros and cons.
Blocks are nice cause you get the same ride quality, but you might get a lot of wheel hop under accel.

Adding a leaf will get you more height, but you'll probably need two extra leaves to get 3"s. That makes for a stiff ride, great if you do a lot of hauling though.

The shackle flip would probably be the best way to go, you'll maintain the same ride quality, without the wheel hop. I'm not sure what year truck your buddy has, but the shakle flip is very common in 4x4 applications, and has kits available, usually gets about 4" lift. I don't think you'll get the same effect by switching the shackles left to right.
