Origional tire size?

I have a 67K20 with 8 lug 16.5 wheels. what would have been the original tire size? if I can't get reasonable tires Is it possible to get really basic steel wheels in 15" 8 lug ? I have a set of 15in tires I could use? need tires for snow plowing. anyone have used tires in good shape?? thanks, Nick

Eaton Wheels used to make an 8 lug 15" wheel, but it will only work with drum brakes unless you grind the crap out of some of the disc brake parts. Sounds like a bad idea to me.... I wouldn't spend my money on such an odd duck. Was made back when only 15" and 16.5" off road tires were common.

Get yourself a set of 16" rims off an 80's C or K 2500 Suburban and run 235 85 16 for a stockish look. On my 70 C2500 I ran 265 75 16 which you could do for a more beefy look.

Thanks, My neighbor seems to think he can get me 16" wheels pretty cheap so we will be going that road.

Ford 8 lug wheels will fit up through 98. The Alcoas look great on a 67-72. I ran aftermarket Alcoas on my truck.

The Ford van is a sometimes overlooked donor as well, but he Suburban wheels shouldn't be too hard to find.

16.5" rims are becoming almost rare. Your options are limited at this point. I think tire rack lists 3 tires.

The factory size on my 70 C20 was 235/85R16. This gives an overall diameter of 31.7". the 265/75R16's have the same outside diameter but they are over an inch wider. You should be aware of the rim size. 235 is the widest recommended for the 6" rims (stock on my 70). I got a set of 7" wide rims of an 82 C20. Those sizes will give you a lot of different tire options.
