Location of VIN...

other than on the door frame... mid 70s... Is the VIN anywhere else on the vehicle?

On my 82, the VIN was stamped on the frame rail on passenger side. Look forward of the right rear wheel on the side or the top of the frame. Mine was stamped both places. If this was an 80's thing, just try looking over your frame good, should be on there. Do a website search, someone else asked the same question a while back. David

What about the top of the driver side dash? ...looking throught the window from the outside.

Did they put them up there in the 70s? This is a 76... the dash pad has been replaced/recovered, so it maybe underneath it...

They started puting the VIN #'s on the upper dash on the driver's side starting with the 79 model year. The dash pad has a cut out to accomodate this. 73-78, the VIN is located on door threshold on the driver's side just below the striker bolt. That is where mind is.

It is on the door threshold, but the trouble is that it has been painted over a bunch of times and it is barely legible...
