Jimmy desert fox 1979 restoration (1)

‏I started my story with this rare style since the seventies of the day when my father owned such as this rare style long time ago .. I could then own it and keep it as part of my family and it is a coincidence that the car model 1979 where I was born in the same year

The gmc company at Dubai wanted to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the desert fox and found out about my GMC Desert Fox Jimmy which is at Saudi Arabia through my Freined Saad Hajari and Instagram. They asked me to join the brand during the Dubai International Motor Show 2017 and have my truck display on the GMC stand.

‏After taking my consent to participate, the meeting was held with Mr. Sajid Sabeeh, General Motors' manager in the Middle East. The car was seen on the ground and was admired. He did not expect to find this model with the same original specifications.

‏ I suggested that I restore it to be like new in the show. The time was big issue cause I have only one month before the show and I reassured him that everything will be okay and that the
‏result will be dazzled, God willing

‏For my experience and good luck, my old friend opened a new repair shop for old cars and trucks. I suggested to him to restore my desert fox Jimmy and to be completed within one month only . He was hesitant because of the short time. But in the end, he accepts the challenge and adventure, either to succeed or lose this opportunity

‏We started work to restore the chassis after sanding and cleaning and at the same time the workers began to work on the removing all the car parts .. It was clear that the rust is very little, which may help us to reduce the period, on the other hand I started to provide all the spare parts and accessories ( new original gm ) which were mostly available to me, I forgot, the important things that made me decide to restore the car is the availability of original graphics by a Low Sierra company at USA which was requested immediately to avoid any delay. Everything was done according to the duration and the plan .. We finished 2 weeks after the re-installation of the body parts,

One of the most difficult tasks at the time of restoration is to keep & maintain the original sticker for the word Desert Fox and then to install the new graphics to be the same size and thanks God the result was excellent .

.
OLD IS GOLD

The city of Miami was hit by typhoon Irma, where there is Low Sierra company site which will provide the body graphics. We lost contact with them for several days because of the power and communication failures. We were answered by them later to expedite the order and they were sent urgently but unfortunately the shipment was lost by the shipping company .. the graphics re-ordered again and shipped as soon as possible and thank God that it's arrived in exact time

‎‏ After the completion of the paint and reassemble the car from the accessories, body and interior, here we finished and started the last stage which is graphics installation.

Some of NOS GM parts .. already installed

I love this rig. Single owner trucks are so special.

I kind of like this concept, but can't believe they managed to screw up the graphics at the taillights (they don't line up).
