67-72 3/4 suburban frame vs 3/4 longbox pickup
I just acquired a 70 3/4 ton 4x4 suburban. I’ve read that the wheelbases of both the burb and the longbox trucks are 127”. Is it possible to mount a 2wd 3/4 ton body onto this 3/4 4x4 burb frame? I suspect I may have to move bed mounts and use the high hump trans tunnel. Anything else?
Thanks for the help. |

Re: 67-72 3/4 suburban frame vs 3/4 longbox pickup
You can do just what you a talking about. You are correct on the using the high hump and body mounts, you will also have to use the rear frame horns from the Burb frame. A Burb frame is about 12" longer at the very tail end. The body mount on the frame directly in front of the rear wheel is different from 2wheel to 4wheel and will take some fabricating. What you are wanting to do is exactly how I build my Suburban. Good luck and post some pics as you go.

After rereading you post I misunderstood originally. You can ignore the body mount comment. You will have to use the rear cab mounts and bed mounts from the truck frame, and shorten the Burb frame.

So, the shortening would just be the back 12” or so based on your first post, correct?
Thanks for the help, Bill. Last edited by FoxJ12; 11-29-2018 at 12:56 AM. |

Correct, just the very tail end of the frame. I had to shorten my frame rails just a bit to clean up an old bumper install before I welded on the Burb frame horns, otherwise I could get you a better measurement. The dimensions are out there if you do a little searching. If you are buying a complete truck for the body you can get all the dimensions you need from it.
