Talking Ramp Rat bumper....

Does anybody have knowledge of one of these for sell?
I sure would like to find one close enough to pick up for the Ramp Rat. It would be a nice addition for it.
This one is in NC about 6 hrs away. I haven't had any luck in finding one closer.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Ramp Rat bumper....

I have one off of my old wrecker but we're on opposite sides of the country. It's heavy and shipping would suck. I frenched the front plate in....and it's nice. You can probably build one fairly cheap.

Re: Ramp Rat bumper....

Back in the day we made our own. we used deckplate (tread plate, diamond plate) because we were not concerned about damaging what we were pushing. If we wanted to protect it we used conveyor belting. Horse stall mat works too, or a rubber bed mat.

Yea I could make one but figured I try the easy way first. The deck plate is the easy part of it. Getting it to mount to the truck is going to be the hard part! Well for me anyway.

Re: Ramp Rat bumper....

On a wrecker with ashort wheelbase (133") the front bumper worked as a counter balance of sorts for the load you had on the hook. I changed my push bumper for a stock bumper and the front end would come way up. I had to put the push bumper back on.....

Re: Ramp Rat bumper....

Youre on tp something with this ramp rat thing. You need a faded door logo. Ramp on top, Rat on bottom, with a rat in the middle...and gnarly looking rat too

Re: Ramp Rat bumper....

There must be tons of old wreckers around you in bone yards...
IIRC when we bought the 2 77 fords.. the front push was standard part for wreckers but the brackets was the only parts made for each model/make truck.
the bumper itself was one size fits all..

Re: Ramp Rat bumper....

Mounting bumpers is easy. I've made a lot of pipe and tube bumpers. You just use 4" c-channel. Mark and drill stock bumper mount hole locations, cut to desired length, and weld the bumper to the channel. The hard part with these trucks will be the are peaked in the middle. Straight across doesn't look as good as a V, but a push bumpe would be straight. My old wrecker had just what you need

Lightbulb Re: Ramp Rat bumper....

I had a guy offer me crazy money for my push bumper off the ramp truck today, but I'm not sure if I want to sell it. Finding another one may be to hard in the shape mine is in. It's fits the look I wanted perfectly.
