1972 C 10 Fleetside "Hidden Highlander"
My “Hidden Highlander” is a 1972 Chevrolet Series 10 Fleetside pickup. It was purchased new from Long Chevrolet in Hillsborough, North Carolina by my father on 7/7/1972. It was used for years as a work truck for my father’s service station, and eventually passed on to my older brother, and then to me. Several years ago, my father had the truck “restored”, but decided that he still wanted the truck to be useful, so in addition to fresh paint and new upholstery, he added a bed liner and a new radio.
Now that the truck has passed onto me, I'm working to get it back to its original glory as much as I can. It's from these forums that I learned that my truck was originally a Highlander Promo Package C truck, and I'm looking forward to sitting on orange plaid again as soon as I can afford to have the seat redone. I appreciate everyone’s help and welcoming wishes, and I'm enjoying learning from all of you as I begin my adventure!

I have your twin. Just a different trim package. It too has been repainted and has the wrong seat. Have you made any progress?

Re: 1972 C 10 Fleetside "Hidden Highlander"
Progress on research, more than the actual project...http://www.smsautofabrics.com/ has the highlander materials in stock. The fabric is $89/yard, vinyl is $49/yard, and the embossed scrolls are $125.
I also reached out to Tim at http://classictruckseats.com/. They can make a complete seatcover, but he couldn't give me a cost because they are "trying to get the prices down on them". My current plan is to work on finding a local upholstery shop that can recover the seat if I provide the fabric. When I find the time and money, that is...

I purchased the materials from SMS and had a local shop sew the cover and install. Cost $365 and included some foam repair. The fabric and scroll from SMS are great quality.

That looks great. I had heard varied opinions about the quality of the SMS scrollwork, glad hear it from someone who actually knows.

Well, the Highlander is out of hiding...I'll take better pictures at some point, but it's nice to be sitting on plaid.
