396 BB what's it worth?

I have the oportunity to buy a 1972 1 ton chevy with a 396 a/c 4 speed tranny the truck body is shot though how much do you guys think it is worth the engine is'nt running but the old man said it was when he let it sit avout three years ago thanks I have a 1970 gmc with an inline six i was thinking about puttin it in that let me know what you guys think

Sounds like it is just a core to me. I would bet no more than 200.00. I wouldn't put it into the 70 with out going thru it first.

If all of the original bracketry is there, it alone is worth $200.00.

yeah all the bracketry power steering pump carberatour air cleaner all the stuff that would have came on the truck from the factory

I wouldn't pay more than $50.00 for the 4 speed. However, the crossmember for a big block 4 speed is worth holding onto. They are rather hard to come by. I have no idea of its worth though. It all depends on if someone needs one when you try to sell it.

I tried selling that stuff when I switched to a 700R4 from a 4 speed a year and a half ago. Nobody wanted any of it, so I took it out to my friend's junk hard and gave it all to him.
