292 oil pan
I am putting the oil pan back onto the chevy 292. Do I need to put any sealant on, along with the gasket???
This is a crate motor. I am also installing a new oil pickup screen. The holder does not want to fit on the stud. Do I need to tweak that until it fits??? What size is the nut that goes on that stud??? Also, on the seals...How do I place them??? The poor illustration shows cutting two different things. I am just not clear. |

Re: 292 oil pan
3/8 nut for stud
I cut the rear rubbers and lapped the fronts Gasket and RTV on the pan side. And a little dab in the corners......

Re: 292 oil pan
I've had the machinist tack weld the oil pickup to the block.

Re: 292 oil pan
Happy Sunday, Sir. I see that you mounted the Pickup to the saddle bolt. I have a stud just to the right of the oil Pickup. I have been scrambling, trying to figure out how to secure. I truly thank you for the picture and advice. What do I torque the bolt back to???
