A/C blower relay wire question
Ever since I got my GMC the positive wire (orange) for the blower relay has been disconnected (due to being cut), and I want to reconnect it to the fuse box but I'm unsure of which terminal in the fuse box it plugs in to. There are only two fused terminals, one 15 amp and one 20 amp, but the 20 amp is for the radio which will be used in the near future. It doesn't seem wise to connect it to one of the unfused terminals either. Any info is greatly appreciated, Thanks

Re: A/C blower relay wire question
I have the orange wire on the blower relay on my 72 GMC plugged into the bottom ign unfused spade where you have the red and white wires.I've never had any problems, however if you are worried your stub wire looks just the right length to wire in a 30 amp inline fuse.

Re: A/C blower relay wire question
IGN UNFUSED
If your wire is too short now's a good time to make a Y-cable with packard connectors (the style of everything original to the truck) so you can plug multiple things into the IGN UNFUSED anyway. Just make one end long enough to comfortably reach the orange. If you're not picky about era-correct connectors, you can do it with crimp connectors too of course.

Re: A/C blower relay wire question
Thanks guys. This is the only a/c truck I've had so I wasn't sure. I think I'll go ahead and put in an inline fuse and use the ign infused.

Re: A/C blower relay wire question
check the diagrams in some of these threads and you will notice that the orange wire to the relay is plugged into the CIG terminal on the fuse panel.
https://www.google.com/search?domain...D%3A1%3B&hl=en It is just a power point for the orange wire so the other options listed in the other posts will work as well. I believe the CIG terminal is full time hot and the others may be key on hot but it does not matter because the AC relay is cold until the relay is energized.

Re: A/C blower relay wire question
I had the same problem, the orange wire was not hooked up and a red wire was plugged into the cig terminal. I unplugged the red and there was a place on the orange wire to plug it in to and then plugged the orange wire into the cig terminal. Haven't finished the AC install yet so I'm hoping this is gonna work. Thanks for the info and wire diagram on my thread Vettevet

Re: A/C blower relay wire question
Recently I got my blower back up and running for heat. I read a few posts that said the orange (12 gauge) blower relay wire plugs into the red cigarette lighter wire harness extra socket. Things are working well for me.

Re: A/C blower relay wire question
I wired it this weekend, ended up connecting it to the top ign. unfused terminal on the right side of the fuse box with an inline 30 amp fuse. Works great, thanks for your help guys

Re: A/C blower relay wire question
Does anyone else have a purple wire running to their blower motor? Mine is Purple and looks completely from the factory. It's tied into the ac plug w/ drk grn and blk.
I have one smaller orange wire coming out of the firewall near the coil that runs to a plug in the cab (not connected to anything) w/ a pink wire. None of the wiring diagrams I've found match up to my wiring. |
