Re: Help with door adjustment after new door seal install
I went with Metro Softseal after wasting money on the push in and other brands. The original GM seals must have been a different and softer rubber?

Re: Help with door adjustment after new door seal install
Hey Joko, Been about ten years ago that I replaced the door seals and don't remember where I got mine or who made them but mine were tight and had to slam the door for a while.I also had similar problems with the muscle cars I restored when new seals were used. I am a 30 plus year collision and restoration tech and would be willing to look at your doors to get them working a little better. We are neighbors. Just PM me if you need me.

Re: Help with door adjustment after new door seal install
Thanks very much Barnfind - I think that post back in 2014 was for my 72 custom deluxe that I sold a little while ago. All I have now are crusty and hard weatherstrips on another truck, and the doors shut perfectly! Since that time, have found several substitute weatherstrips like Dodge Dakotas, and I think I even saw a note that Hondas work pretty well too. Thanks again for the offer, we'll have to get together sometime! We probably already have and didn't know it since Burleson isn' that big anyway.

Re: Help with door adjustment after new door seal install
I had this same problem after replacing the door seals in 65 gmc and was just waiting for the seals to coform so the doors would close easily. I also needed to replace the cab bushings and after doing so was pleasantly surprised to find that the doors now closed perfectly with little effort. Apparently the front cab bushings being severely deteriorated affected the door alignment. I would have never guessed this since the doors closed perfectly prior to my changing the door seals. When I parked the truck this morning before changing the cab bushings I had to slam both the driver and passenger doors to get them closed. I think I'm happier about the doors closing easy than I am about the cab being better aligned.
