Switching to HEI
I have 70 C10 with BBC that I am thinking of switching to HEI from Skip White. The two questions I have are:
1. Where in the harness is the resistor wire? Can I just bypass it where the resistor is at or is it better to run a new wire, and if so where is best place to run key power from? 2. I have factory in-dash tach. Do I need to do anything special or just move the tach lead from the existing coil to the new HEI connector pigtail? |

1. The wire itself is a resistor. You will need to run a new wire. It is the power wire connected to the distributor. A couple of companies sell a new wire that will replace the existing wire and has the proper connectors on the ends. I believe orange car and truck sells them. Probably others as well.
2. I don't have a tach, but from what I have read on here the HEI should not cause any issues with a factory tach. |
