Intercooler air horn
Hi guys just thought I'd share this with you, I know the pic will be confusing but bear with me I'll explain.
I'm currently in Thailand and today I hitched a ride on a long tail river boat. They use truck turbo Diesel engines and gearboxes, fix a long output shaft out of the back and stuck a propeller on the end. It's all home made. And to top it off they boost them up to the high heavens! They go like stink! So anyway this next bit might be of interest to diesel guys. The guy had a super loud air horn which I'm sure was piped into the intercooler pipe ( has anyone heard of this) which got me thinking could you not slowly bleed off intercooler pressure and using a pressure regulator fill your air suspension tanks also. It's just an idea ( maybe it's been done, maybe it's a bad idea or maybe it can be the start of something ) Anyway just some inspiration from the other side of the world to share with you guys, peace! |

Re: Intercooler air horn
That is pretty gnarly! I wonder how many of those boats the driver has upset doing that? That looks like you'd best be on your game or be eating water quickly. Haha
You probably could use the air from the intercooler to fill tanks but it would never get over the amount of pressure being put through the system. The air compressors on medium and light duty diesel engines actually pull their air supply from the intercooler supply to the engine.
