Windshield Wipers Quit

I pulled my cowl off because my wipers were squeaking. I oil the wiper linkages in the cowl and turned the wipers some and when I tried to turn on the wipers they don't work. What could have happened? Did I do something by manually turning the wiper motor in the cowl? Please Help!

Thanks
Mark

Sounds weird, it should not make any difference that you moved the wipers by hand. Did you do any work under the dash also? Try turning on the wipers on low speed and then move your wiper arm by hand and if that fails, turn the wipers on high speed and try it again. Also (if you have not already) check your fuse, and check to see if your getting voltage at the motor itself (under the dash) It could be that your motor has packed it in and thats what the squeeking noise was, regards Doug

I wasn't working under the dash. I turned on the wipers and watched the mechanism move in the cowl. I then disconnected the middle links and oiled them. I turned on the wipers again and the squeaking was almost gone. I noticed the end of the links squeaking a little. I turned off the wipers, oiled the ends and then the wipers wouldn't turn on. I can't figure it out. Is there a fuse for the wiper circuit? I didn't see one in the fuse box.

Thanks
Mark

Thanks for the help. It turned out to be the fuse. It was just weird that the fuse lost it connection while I was working on the wipers. The fuse holder was a little rusty and didn't get a good connection.
