14B FF questions

I'm looking for a 14 B FF for my '72. Is there any that will bolt in without having to move the spring perches? I've got a one in a '79 4x4 but the perches are wider on that one by a couple of inches. Give me some info if you can.
Thanks,
Matthew

Matthew, I got some 4.10's, 4.56's, and 3.73's 14 bolts up here. Do some trading on that swb 4x4 you have.

i have a 14 bolt ff in my 72 and it went in just fine, if you find one from the 1 ton trucks 73-87 they should fit with no perch mods.

ryanroo-thanks for the info

teeitup-randy, let me know if you have any with 40" C to C spring perches. I'm needing this in 4.56 from a single rear wheel(SRW) truck to match the D60 going up front . Also, I'd prefer an open carrier so I can put a detroit in. Now am I picky or what!!!!

If i can't find a SRW with correct perches, would it be easier to convert a dual rear to single or just move the perches?

Matthew

if you find an axle from a dually truck, there's a good chance it is a dana 70. about the same as a 14 bolt, except 10 bolts on the diff cover vs 14.

The 14BFF that came in the 1-tons have a C to C distance of 40.5" Our old trucks have a C to C distance of 40". The 1-ton 14BBF will bolt in with a bit of prying on the springs. You will still need to move the shock mounts though.

I used a 3/4 ton 14BFF and just moved the perches and shock mounts.

73-80 2wd 3/4Ton Crew cabs also have the narrow spring perches.

since a C and C was mentioned, my C and C dually K30 is most defiitely a 14FF. D70s were mostly full width duallys, mine looks as if it would almost fit both tires behind stock fenders.

FYI: If you end up with a '73 axle and you have a problem getting wheel cylinders, get '74 rear wheel cylinders. The '73 cylinders were only used for one year. The '74s take different lines but they are easier to find. Everything else should be the same. Also if you want to put a Detroit locker in it, make sure you get an open carrier not a posi.
