how to fit caddy into 70 chevy?
me and my best friend are building a drag racing truck (50/50) and we have a 500CI caddy to go in it (not sure what tranny its got with it), and we need to know how to fit this into the 6 cyl mounting spots.. so anybody knwo what we'll need to do? were tunneling out the cab, and just using bedsides and a tailgate (dont worry guys, the cab isnt saveable, i feel through the floor in it!!! )

Someone on the board has done this but I don't remember who.I do know that the big block mounts work with the B-O-P 455 engines in the one ton so I assume they would work in the half ton.If this is a drag truck, and the cab is going to be tunneled why not take advantage and set the engine back a few inches?This will give you better weight transfer and help with the traction problems you will have.If memory serves me the caddy uses a 400 TH.

youll need an eldorado oil pan (rear sump) youll need to move the towers forad alot because the motor mounts are towards the front more and i think you might need a remote oil filter,ive been studying on this too for my 72,this is just some of the stuff i heard,not 100% sure on oil filter

ok so sinse we are tunneling out the cab, that is a good idea...and we wont have to move the cradle as far back because the motor mounts being farther forward
will the T-400 be good enough for a drag racing truck? what would you recomend?

Th400 are one of the best auto's out there IMO,yes,youll want to motor as far back as possible for wieght transfer

A good friend of mine is running a 500ci caddilac/th400 conversion in his 72 GMC. His wasn't a 6cyl truck, but next time I see him I'll try to get some digital pics.
