1952, thanks for looking at the issue. That nut barely misses the channel, but I can get a different bolt with an Allen head and reverse it.
The real issue is at the rectangular slot, you can see the lever that goes from the push button into the latch. That is where the channel is hitting the latch. I've ordered the felts so I can install them and check the window to see what happens. I'm hopeful that it will work. If not, cutting a groove in the channel will be the next step.
