Help bolting 5.3 and 4L60e together

I bought an '08 Tahoe 5.3. It came with the flex plate. I didn't get the trans because it was a 4x4. I found and bought a 2wd Silverado "08 4L60e and torque converter.
I've got:
-flex plate
-Bell to motor bolts
-Torque converter bolts
-Dipstick and tube
-Ordered a big plastic dust cover
-need a starter

Is there anything else? No thin metal plate at the back of the motor?

One more thing I discovered searching around. There's a piece of plastic under the starter that has to be removed to get at the torque converter bolts. Not sure what it's called.

Its just a dust cover, not really needed. But like said above you still have to pull starter to get to converter bolts.

Maybe not needed but I wonder if the starter would be louder without it?

Re: Help bolting 5.3 and 4L60e together

I've separated three engine/transmissions so far. A TBI 350 with a manual, A 4th gen 5.3(2010) with a 6l80e, and a Ford 300 I-6 with a manual.

The Ford had that thin metal plate you describe. Neither GM did. They simply mated the bellhousing to the block.

I've done several Fords and was used to seeing that plate. I guess GM's don't have them.

Try part no. 24261712 for that plastic dust cover. It is held on with one bolt, and then the starter mounts through it.

Got one from my local wrecker. He said they throw them out but he happened to have a truck being torn down when I was there so I snagged it.

Re: Help bolting 5.3 and 4L60e together

I had someone suggest to me that I should buy a set of Allen head bolts to attach the trans. He said if I ever have to pull the trans the upper two bolts are difficult and the Allen head ones would make it easier. I’ll keep the one stud style one for the dipstick though.
