Driveline issues

OK I’m going from a small block 350 long wheel Bass to a 454 in the same truck so we tried to put the driveline in and obviously I knew the motor had moved back we could almost get it all the way in but there will be no space for the yoke to go inside of the tranny so I’m going to cut the driveline down in the front portion of it in front of the carrier bearing so my question is how much gap should I have between the tail shaft of my tranny and the Botom of the yoke I was thinking about cutting off 1 1/2 inch

Put the truck on a liftback, take it and the driveshaft to the shop that is going to do the work, and let them sort it out. You can do what you want, but I think you will be happier with the results if you let the ones who do that kind of work make the "measure twice, cut once" assessment.

It’s going to be cut by my drive line shop for sure but can’t take the truck there just was wanting to know if any one knows how much of the yoke should I be able to see out the back of the tail shave cause I know there is suppose to be wiggle room just thought some one on here might know how much....

I have always inserted the yoke as far as it would go and pulled it back out 3/4-1", then measured the length for the shaft. That has always worked for me. Make sure the splines inside the yoke are clean all the way down.

Call the driveline shop that's doing the work and ask them what measurements you should take. This isn't an area you want to guesstimate or wing-it.

When I had a custom 1 piece driveline made for a 1979 K25 I had, the guy at the driveline shop talked to me on the phone while I was crawling under the truck with a tape measure.

Just had all this answered on another site and the answer is as stated push it all the way in to the transmission and then pull it out 3/4" to 1" and mark it. Then have it cut to fit.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Just curious because I am going to go to a short bed does the factory short beds have a two-piece driveline with the carrier bearing?

From what I have seen and herd yes some did some didn't.

When I did the 6.0 LS with 4L80E swap I got a 1 piece for my LWB truck installed.
