Hemmings barn-find GMC K1500

Anybody see this? A buddy sent it to me this morning.... boy, talk about getting the blood flowing!!!
If someone more tech-savvy than me could save these pics and post them individually here, so they're always available in the future for reference, that'd be awesome.

Couple things: What is GMC's designation for 4x4 3/4-ton? Original paperwork says "K1500."
The truck has a white roof, but the whole "green house" isn't white, like on '62 Chevy trucks. Was this the way GMCs did it, or is this the result of the "Forrestry Green" paint job over the factory paint?

My '62 K10 project is a long-step too, so this one reallllllly does it for me!

Here's a bunch more photos from the actual ad, not the Hemmings write-up.

Does anyone know the purpose of the 2 holes in the dash just to the left of the glovebox door? They are almost always covered with factory plugs and I have never seen them used for anything. GMC only I believe.

Re: Hemmings barn-find GMC K1500

Thanks for posting info and photos everyone! These are the types of finds that bring back memories. Glad this one survived. The definition of a workhorse: a 3/4 ton longbed stepside 4x4. Believe me, wouldn't look the same without period correct wheels and bias ply off road tires.

This one does it for me, because I'm doing a '62 Chevy K10 long bed step side. It'll be a resto-mod, because there just wasn't anything to start with... but it'll look period-correct and original.
To me, the Long-Step has the best proportions of any of the K-series pick-ups.

Seeing this truck's profile is incredibly motivational!

One super cool truck!

That cb radio caught my eye! (I'm really into radios) Looks like a old 23 channel Midland.

It's a Midland mic for sure.

ad is gone but had it open on browser at home so downloaded all the pictures for my archives

looked closer at the dash holes mentioned above, yah I was drunk or thinking about another picture I was looking at recently..

sooo, what are those for? they both have key slots cut at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock so they look factory stamped..

I have wondered about this too, my 63 GMC has them with the plugs and I had thought they are right size for a cig lighter but that seems odd to have 2. I figured maybe they were for the medium duty trucks. I might end up with 12v outlet in one and USB in other.
