Factory 72 bucket seat/steering wheel

so just finished a multi year body/paint resto on my 72 GMC part of the project was installing a factory bucket seat/console combo used some of the resources from the forums to get the seats mounted in the proper location however I left the aftermarket steering wheel that I had in the truck for years and now find the driving ergonomics very uncomfortable. the wheel has 4 1/2" dish I'm now thinking of going back to a stock wheel, but fishing for ideas input before I make a change, lots of time till spring

Found a 90's s10 wheel at the pick and pull 15". Size was an issue for me with newer seats, taller than OEM, it doesn't have tilt. Post photos of what you have might help.

Re: Factory 72 bucket seat/steering wheel

A fav of mine is the factory optional 3 spoke wheel for '69 Camaros. Smaller in diameter than the stock truck wheel, stock shallow dish. A very factory looking wheel in our trucks but a real step above the too big original. Same wheel with a thicker rim was standard on '70 Buick GSX. Both are available reproduction in the aftermarket.

If you like the aftermkt. wheel you have you might shorten your steering column. It moves the wheel several inches closer to the dash & changes the reach quite a bit. Not hard to do, there a few good threads in the forums. I did mine awhile back.

Re: Factory 72 bucket seat/steering wheel

I've run GM car steering wheels on many trucks. If you like that look you can search for one from a car that had tilt/telescoping column option. Those are flat but otherwise same style as the rest. The late-model wheels that notsolo mentioned are nice, have a nice feel
