Questions: Another LS Swap Project with Donor Vehicle
So I have a 2005 chevy tahoe with a 5.3 vortec in perfect driving condition everything works. I have a 1971 c10 that I have stripped down again to start over from scratch. Here are some questions that maybe someone who has experience with this can answer?
1. It is possible to retrofit the Blower motor and AC controls into the 1971 C10? For example, build some sort of console that could house the controls or mount it in the glove box area and successfully retrofit that blower motor into the cab of the C10? 2. Would the front disc brake assembly fit on a 1971 c10? My goal is to take as much stuff from the Tahoe as I can. |

Re: Questions: Another LS Swap Project with Donor Vehicle
somewhat related but i bought my bench seat from a guy that took a working tahoe and dropped the c10 ontop of the chassis keeping the firewall and floor of the tahoe. essentially dropped the c10 body on a tahoe instead of stuffing a modern vehicle in an old chassis. so he had all the newer safety features even kept the airbags.
was neat... just a thought to throw out there. |

.
1) ...maybe... 2) ...probably not... You could part out the remaining pieces of the Tahoe after you take the engine and transmission. Use that money to purchase all the parts to install a new A/C system into the C10. Then do a disc conversion on the C10 as well! Hth, -klb

Re: Questions: Another LS Swap Project with Donor Vehicle
The guy I purchased it from pieced it together so it had drums all the way around. has a dana 44 jeep 10 bolt rear end. and the weirdest NOS brake drums.
I guess scrapping pieces from Tahoe will have to fund the a/c/brake project. the only things that i'm somewhat worried about is: I'm hoping I can somehow rig the LMC truck bed fill gas tank up with an external fuel pump that would feed the motor. I know there are plenty of posts out there about that. Figuring out what the deal with the drive shaft will be. Also plenty of post out there. Thanks, Ill start a new thread when i officially start the project. |

Re: Questions: Another LS Swap Project with Donor Vehicle
There is a guy in Alaska I think that was putting a SWB body on a Tahoe chassis. He had some pics along the way. Not sure he finished it, but the thread gets dredged up occasionally. Doing it that way gives you mounted fuel tank, 4 wheel disc brakes, no driveshaft mods, etc. Not for everyone, but something to consider.
