what kind of transmission is it?
its a 3 speed manual that came stock in my 77 3/4 ton parts truck. its hooked to a 205 transfer case. its a "3 on the tree" i was thinking about maybe putting it in my truck or selling it but dont know what it is. will the adapter thats on it work for a sm465. when i looked up info about a 205 transfer case it only talks about 3 different versions th350, th400 and the sm465. i have the original rpo sticker out of the glove box if that can help identify it.
any help would be appreciated thanks stan

Heres a start. The only 3spd on the tree in a 4x4 that I have had, came in a 72 Jimmy.
If I remember right (long time ago) the transfer case was a dana 20 and the adapter was part of the t-case. The whole set up was totally different than the 465/adapter/205 that I put in. Yes, the RPO might help.

The 3 sp. adapter is different than a sm465 adapter.I helped a friend years ago put a 4sp.in his 77 1/2 ton.It came with a NP205.He used the trans cover from the other truck also.I don't remember it being to bad of a swap.
But the 4sp. has to be a 4x4 trans.>tailshaft different on a 2wd.

I would venture a stab at the SM330...at least that is what 67-72 4x4's with a 3 on the tree used. I have heard about that combo in a 73-87 before, but I'd never seen it. One good thing is that the NP205 was the only transfer that came with one of these.
