1972 k10 LWB frame , differentials, odds and ins and parts....
Heres the deal , im considering purchasing this chassis this week to repair the rear frame section on my swb. Its a full rolling chassis on wheels. Engine , auto transmission, transfer case driveshafts ect.... I am going to have to pay more than I want for it but thought I might be able to put some money back in the wallet by parting out what I dont need... So heres what im thinking.. Im gonna list by number what I hope to sell back off of it and the replies can be numbered same way with suggested price out from part. If theres any interest, we will follow all rules and If i make a deal on this I will list parts in for sale section once ive removed the them. I want to help out any fellow board members any way I can and just be into my frame cuts and a few things I need for myself reasonable as well.. So here we go... Im listing items that can be easily shipped first.
1. Front Extreme Bend Tow Hooks.......😵😵 Just kidding !!!! I would DIE if it would have had those.... But I just HAD to do that... 😆😂😆 Ok to be serious... 1. Front locking Hubs complete with blue dials 2. Small block 4x4 Engine mounts/crossmember/hardware 3. Possibly exhaust manifolds ?? (Have to check if correct and shape they are in) 4. Pitman Arm 5. Steering draglinks/tierods/linkages 6. Front spring plates/ shock mounts 7. Front knuckles/wheel hub components 8. Front Dana 44 carrier/ring and pinion/ axles.. Unsure of ratio at the moment 9. Rear 12 bolt carrier/ring and pinion /axles... " " " 10. All Rear Spring Hangers

Re: 1972 k10 LWB frame , differentials, odds and ins and parts....
Additions...
17. All rear spring Hangers. 18. Frame crossmembers. 19. Frame mounts for Cab/Bed 20. Possible frame cuts from rear of cab foward. ( I may keep these and hang them on the Barn wall in case mine get damaged at some point) So Thats all off of the top of my head... Like I said just fair, reasonable, honest value for these.

Not a 4x4 person so I am not sure the value of all those things. Seems like most folks I know ditch the 1/2 ton stuff and add 1 ton axles and all. Good luck, there always seems to be a 4x4 market.

Re: 1972 k10 LWB frame , differentials, odds and ins and parts....
I'd guess it would part out fairly decent. I paid $100 for an engine cross member, another $100 for a 4x4 trans cross member, and $100 for some wollered out front hangers. I still need some 4x4 rear spring hangers so go buy this thing wold ya?
The axles are hard to sell in my area. Most people do want 8 lug stuff or at least a D60 if it is a 4x4. But there is some value in that front diff to a guy wanting to stay 6 lug.

Re: 1972 k10 LWB frame , differentials, odds and ins and parts....
There is a market for each and every piece listed. Some demand and/or value higher than others. The original axles are of great demand to those looking for OEM replacement or upgrading '69-earlier that they want to keep 1/2t as built. I'm all about the 8-luggers myself, but just like you with your low production K/10 SWB, I believe I would keep mine as built as a 1/2t. 10 years ago? I had one I only saw value in the frame, VIN-plate, title, and glovebox door and had 1t axles, 6" lift, 37/12.50 SSRs on 8.25 steelies, with plans to turbo a 292. I would not do that today, that could be done on a '73-up chassis and body swap since the value would be in the build not the original truck.
