'71 Door Latch

While driving heard something fall inside drivers door then door flew open. Upon inspection pulled out parts from bottom inside door. Can these be put back together or will I need a new latch?

Re: '71 Door Latch

Don't like to answer my own posts but just wanted to say I was able to pull latch out and repair and get it back in and working ….without removing any windows or tracks, only removed the rod coming from inside door handle.

Nothing wrong with that. A guy could put a spot of weld on it if he was concerned about it coming loose again. Looks like you have it peened over pretty good though...

Good to go for another 40yrs at least. New after market latch might not be as good quality wise.

Re: '71 Door Latch

I had great success rebuilding the 3rd door latch pivot press-pin. Using a 37 cent retaining ring/circlip/shaft ring from my local small hardware store. 1st attempt used ⅜", 2nd attempt 10m worked perfect.
