WTB rear axle, u-bolts, etc.

I am looking for a stock 12bolt rear axle tube for 70-72 4x4 leaf spring mounting. I don't need a diff, brakes, can have damaged gears, w/e. Just need a good tube! 6 lug axle shafts would be nice, but not necessary as I can source new ones. . (1rippen6)

Looking for factory FRONT 4x4 U-bolts. (1rippen6)

Looking for one REAR shock bolt/nut combo. The fine thread one.

I am in central Arkansas and willing to drive 4-6ish hours on a weekend if necessary to pick up axle.

If you don't find anything closer, there is a guy on HWY 95 west out of Clinton toward Buzzard Roost that has a bunch of 67-72 parts.

If you can't find anything close I sound have a 3:08 rear out of a 72 blazer. Fastenal is reasonably on shipping stuff like that. I should have front u bolts also.

Davis, that would be the closest I have found so far. Do you have a name/contact into?

rippen6, yes, I remember buying some parts from you before. I figured shipping on an axle would be crazy. But I might have to. If you have the u-bolts, Id be happy to take them off your hands.

Re: WTB rear axle, u-bolts, etc.

Sorry, I forgot to get a number. He's about 4-5 miles out HWY 95 on the right hand side (north side) of the road. The house sits off the road a bit and has a 72 Suburban sitting to the right of the house. You can't see any other 67/72 stuff from the road.

The salvage yard at the intersection of hwy 263 and hwy 66 at Timbo had a lot of stuff too, but I haven't had any luck buying from him.

The salvage yard on hwy 110 east of Botkinburg used to have some trucks under the hill.

Re: WTB rear axle, u-bolts, etc.

Davis, thanks for all these locations.

Hwy 95, google earth is way behind in that area, didn't see any trucks in yards, unless they are all under tress. May go hunt this weekend if I get bored.

263/66 found it. Long way to me to drive if not willing to deal.

110, that's coming up as Prout Garage. Does that seem correct?

That one you found in Kansas is a trailing arm axle, not a leaf spring. It could be swapped, but I'm trying to find a real deal one.

Re: WTB rear axle, u-bolts, etc.

How soon are you needing one? I have one that was originally from a '73 and up that the perches and shock mounts have already been moved. It's in a '72 Blazer now, has some pinion bearing, gear problems. The reason I ask on time is I'm not pulling it till I get the replacement I have for it ready to do the swap. I also have a few sets of stock U-bolts. I an not 100% but I think the coil rears or slightly narrower than the 4x4 versions.

Re: WTB rear axle, u-bolts, etc.

Dozer, I would like to do it soon as its in my garage taken apart and not moveable. Sounds like youre in the same situation as me looking for an axle.

The width from my research isn't coil/leaf/4x4, its a year thing. Somewhere around 69-70 it was widened.

Re: WTB rear axle, u-bolts, etc.

Not trying to prevent any sales but if it was me for the price I’d go new on the ubolts. My local big truck parts/driveline shop makes them, or as I did got mine from diy4x for the front and fit perfect. Side not my research shows on the rear the spring spacing should be the same to 72. I can conform later today as I have a rear frame from a 72 blazer I have to unload

Re: WTB rear axle, u-bolts, etc.

From my research, none of the new bolts fit properly, which is why I'm going used.

The rear axle,
65-69 is like 62 overall width, not sure on leaf mounting.
70-72, 63.5 overall width, somewhere around 40-40.5 leaf mount.
73-80?? 63.5 overall width, but 42ish?? on the leaf mount.

To my knowledge 67-72 spacing is 40.5”
73-91 one ton only is the same 40.5”
Wms I’ve been messing with 8 lug lately so unsure on the 1/2 back your numbers sound right.
Here’s a picture of my front with the bolts for reference

Re: WTB rear axle, u-bolts, etc.

I was searching on 1/2 ton, so 8lug 3/4 or 1ton, I'm not sure. I saw it mentioned in a few post, but didn't pay attention.

Fitment on that one looks good around the axle. But that extra length at least on my left side would not work, would hit exhaust. I know I can cut them down.

Re: WTB rear axle, u-bolts, etc.

I just confirmed this 1972 blazer uses 2.5” spring at 40.5 spacing, hope it helps in your search. Also the axle I pictured was a 10 bolt which dimensional is the same as the dana44 and actually has Dana outters on it

Looks good. Gear ratio doesn't matter as I've got a posi and 3:73's on my garage floor ready to go in it.

LOL, wouldn't surprise me if this came out of somewhere else or something else knowing who had it before me. Everything else down here has been fine thread, so I thought this was OEM
