Re: CL find rare 54 crew cab
At first, I thought it might have been a real one, like those RailRoad ones you see...
I guess the door latch to each other?! Seems sketchy to me. |

Re: CL find rare 54 crew cab
Rare as it was bult to that point in the past few years and maybe passed around and added to over the years by several different guys who weren't on the same page as far as builds go.
I see a cab that may or may not have potential and a blown big block that again may or may not have potential More not unless it has all the docuementaton to go with it. A jacked with later model chassis that someone decided to make into a tandom axle setup that has little value to most beyond salvage value. I hate to sound negative but in the past 40 something years I have driven too many miles and wasted too much time driving to look at similar projects that were for sale and just not doable without an extreme amount of work and money and that looks like one of those. Truthfully he would probably be better off to advertise the cab as it is sitting on a pallet for a premium price and advertise the blown big block for what it is worth and sell off the rest of it. There are plenty of guys who would pay a premium for the cab to stick on their extended cab S-10 frame or an 88 and up frame and make an interesting truck.

The only people calling him are the "I'll help you sell your car" scammers. Geesh

I was just thinking that one of my two best friends and a guy who is far more big brother who is in a nursing home suffering from dimentia would have shown me the photos of that truck and told me how "radical" he thought it was. What make some of us shake our heads is radical to others.

I had an extended-cab S10, with the single suicide door. I hit my head on the upper door latch so many freaking times! The welds eventually broke on it...I swear the top of my skull was the catalyst. |

Re: CL find rare 54 crew cab
ok, take the cab, make the front door longer for easy access, close in the back door and leave a window like an old super cabs had, that would give lots of room for entry/exit seating etc and still look ok. it's pretty straight actually. but then pics sometimes hide issues. put that on a good frame, throw an LS/auto between the rails and call it a day. oh yeah, need a box too of course.
not as bad as some starts I've seen. it was, however, previously "started", technically. |

Re: CL find rare 54 crew cab
I drug home a roached out burb years back to use to build an extended cab for my truck with the quarter windows so I would have the correct shape openings and after seeing a couple of similar ones passed as it just didn't look right.

Re: CL find rare 54 crew cab
I hauled a toasted burb home during my build that I planned to use in making a fleet side bed for my '52. Saw one someone else did that with and stuck with my step side as the fleet side just didn't look right.

Re: CL find rare 54 crew cab
I was going to do the same thing but the burb I hauled home was so rusted out there weren't any panels worth using. I've still got the areas around the windows and the door posts and about a 12 inch secton behind them thatI planned to stretch the cab similar to what is in Post 1 but decided I didn't like the look.
