1972 GMC 3500 Rear Wire Harness
Howdy - Looking at the attached photos there is a 4 wire connector and a gold anodized cylinder with a red wire hanging from it that I am not sure what these are for. Both are at the rear bumper. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Your rear light harness plugs into the 4 wire connector. You should have a short harness that will plug into it that goes to the tail lights, reverse lights & license plate light. Don't know what the cylinder is. What is on the other end of it? LockDoc

Looking at that connector again that is the end that is connected to the rear lights. The other half should be stuck in a hole in the rear cross member. Be sure and clean the terminals up before connecting it together..... LockDoc

The extra plug will be for the lights for the camper.

OK, For the camper tail, license plate & reverse lights. That makes sense. Thanks. LockDoc

Re: 1972 GMC 3500 Rear Wire Harness
All - thanks for your input - once I looked around underneath I was able to find the mating connector for the rear lights on the cross member drivers side. I also noticed a similar connector at the firewall by the distributor that was not plugged in for some reason. All good now!
