Modifying Boyd tank

Hey guys.
I bought a new complete bed from SoKyClassics and want to do my fuel filler a little different this time around, as I got a wood bed and don't want to do another floor fill. I bought the bracket and cap from New Creations for a taillight fill. My Boyd tank is a "standard" top fill sightly shifted to the driver side.

Plan is to Tig a new 90 degree fill neck out of the top side so I can make the tail light fill work. Other than washing out the tank several times, filling it with water, and lighting it right before I weld to burn any fumes still left out, are there any issues doing this? Weld my old filler neck shut?

-->I guess my main thing here is for the guys who have a Boyd side fill tank, are there any physical differencs in the tank other than the fill location??

Thanks in advance for any help.

Here is a picture I had found on my phone of mine. It looks like the fill is in the same spots.
