On mine the sides got rolled up before putting the key in the ignition, if it wasn't raining. There was always about a month during the summer when the sides would stay rolled up 24/7. What's nice about a soft top is you have a top with you when you are out of town if and when you need it All buttoned up After I sold it, but still had it all summer, I put the hardtop back on for transport purposes. I didn't even want to drive it after having a soft top. Just another Jimmy. The guy that bought it left the hardtop on and sold the soft top. Oh well, it's his now Slipping in a picture of the '71 (and '72) I had in the '80s
