Difference in 64-66 factory headlight bezels
Someone probably knows this but the part number is the same on these bezels and I have seen both versions of the headlight bezels with and without 3 HL adjustment indentations? One NOS I had for years was in a newer Gm clear plastic bag with the colored GM logo and part# and it did not have them. Then I just now got a NOS bezel and it has the 3 indentations in a very old GM paper bag with the same part number 3794939? I also noticed in a picture of the original used grille I have coming also has the adjuster holes in the trim while most of mine here did not. Anybody know what the background is on that?

Re: Difference in 64-66 factory headlight bezels
I hadn't ever noticed any notched bezels until someone on this board recently asked a similar question and posted a picture. Kinda made me wonder if I had been half awake all these years. Were they for big trucks? Later replacement parts? Canadian? Or have I indeed been asleep? Those of you that have parts books, look and see when (if) they first appear.

I think they probably make them like that so they would interchange on either side.

Re: Difference in 64-66 factory headlight bezels
I went back to pictures of my first 1966 restoration in the late 80's that the grille and headlight bezels were bought new from the Gm dealer in that era. The bezels had the notches in those GM replacements then. It would not have mattered Left or Right as there is still only one part # 3794939 for both styles and both sides. The factory installed bezels that I have seen over the years were not notched and the replacement ones I have bought over the years appear to all have had the notches. Maybe someone has nos bezels in their stash to check and add to this post? I have one NOS and talked to a friend who has 2 more nos and these all have the adjustment notches in them.

My '64 doesn't have the notches, you have to take them off to adjust headlights.

Re: Difference in 64-66 factory headlight bezels
I have 2 NOS ones. Gotta check and see. I know they are in a plastic bag. Suspect they are the 3-hole. Sounds like they were made later and mine are probably that. I'll let you know.

Re: Difference in 64-66 factory headlight bezels
I had one of the 3 notches type.
I sold it to somebody on this forum that had only one and wanted a set. It's kind of weird I still had it. I hadn't had my 65 for 25+ years. I found it out in my shed in a barrel.
