Honestly don't know for the square body trucks as am more familiar with the 67-72 series for which they were an option at the time of build. Believe the tow hooks were an option up thru the 73-80 truck series. In the 81-87 series "think" they were added at the factory when the 4x4 option was built into the truck but have no facts to back that up. Maybe someone can chime in on that with better info.

The early tow hooks were much more beefy at least up thru the 73-80 years. In the 81-87 era the hooks were much smaller in diameter and pretty anemic looking in my opinion.
