Re: column shifter lever
Sorry forgot this. It does not list the actual parts numbers and I don't have that catalog to cross reference.
Normally from what you are describing, the spring or bushing (#6, 7, & 8) in view B are what is messed up or missing. You might find the bushings ( Genuine GM 1377083 Control Linkage Insulator/Bushing) on e-bay, but a lot of folks ask way too much for them since they are no longer produced. This is where I got mine. https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Genuine...item2a3940c649 I just found a spring in the hardware store and used it to replace mine.

Re: column shifter lever
It is not listed in the break down above but there is a small spring under the (20) shifter lever end in the steering column bowl. that will often break causing the shifter to not spring back towards the dash.
once you drive the pin (18) out and remove the lever, you should be able to dig it out with a small pick. make sure you get all the pieces out or the new spring will not fit.

Re: column shifter lever
I would begin by checking numbers 3, 4, 13, 14, 15, and 17 from the illustration to see if those areas are tight. Bushings in those areas could be worn out or missing causing the feeling you're describing.
