Re: Suspension help, !!!

That strap will definitely not do it, I can envision a loud POP.... CLANG...Oh S"#iT!!! so be careful!

First thing would be to read up in the suspension area of the forum.

Second .... YouTube.

What do you mean "front to back"?

Spring compressor can be had for free at most Autozone parts stores, they have a tool loaner program here in Texas. You just give them your credit card and agree to pay for it if you break it or don't take it back. (also known as stealing.... lol)

Good luck

Re: Suspension help, !!!

I just did this...use a large floor jack under the control arm. However, that alone wouldn't do it for me. I had to raise the rear end under the pumpkin, and jack the opposite side up to shift all the weight to that corner. Use a safety chain if you can in case things go south.

I couldn't use a spring compressor tool because it would bottom out and I would never be able to get it back out. I tried both kinds...the one that sits inside the spring and the 2 that go on the outsides of the spring- neither worked.

When you reinstall the u bolts, on the control arm you can move the assembly.

Re: Suspension help, !!!

Yeah so no weight here just a frame. I can actually get the castlenuts started but what a lot of pressure. And the upper is flat buried into the snubber

Re: Suspension help, !!!

There are dimples on your lower control arm that center it.

Re: Suspension help, !!!

It’s a lot easier to put back together with the weight of the body and engine and trans on it. Looks like you have a bare frame.

Re: Suspension help, !!!

i put my motor and trans in the frame for weight then did the floor jack method x2 on those straps wont do it and looks scarey.... please be careful you can also use a bradded cabble and loop it threw a few times nut bolt and washers or a pad lock thru a looped end as a safety device in the event...”things go south” i used an extra cable from a grage door spring install
