Help with the squirter!!!!
Having problems with the windshield wiper washer on the 82. It would not shut off until the water was drained. I figured I had a bad dash switch, so I changed it out and same problem. Played around a bit and figured there was a short or somethiing in the pump motor. Bought a generic replacement pump and attempted to hook it up and I either get nothing, or they squirt the minute I turn on the wipers and will not shut down.
Standard model wipers, no intermitant. I can get the pump to work if I connect to either of the white/grey looking wires (red arrow) for power source, grounded to chassis at this time. If I try the pink (blue arrow) or black/blue wire (green arrow) nothing. I am feeling really stupid at this point. Is there something else in the system (between the dash switch and motor) that might cause this? For those of you that did this, how did you wire it up?? Any help is mucho appreciated. Thanks!

ok, what kind of generic motor did you get? can you post a pic? i have one as well, with a black and white wire. the black wire is connected to the red wire (blue arrow) the white wire is connected to the yellowish tan wire next to it. (red arrow but you have 2 of those in the pic)

The usual problem with the stock pump when it does this is with the pump pawl. When you hit the wipers, a solenoid pulls the pomp pawl off its stop and the pump cam operates the pump. After 1 revolution, the cam pushes the pump pawl back onto its stop (unless the switch is still held) The spring may be broken or have fallen off. This all makes more sense when you look under the black plastic cover. A new stock pump can be had for about $30.

Prerunner1982. That was the magic combo. Must have been the only one I didn't try yesterday. Now that I look at it, I dunno why I didn't try that combo. Makes sense looking at it now. Oh weell I'm in the dark alot anyways.
Thanks again. Love this board!!!!!
