Grille guard help!
Ok. So I have this grille guard I got off an old 69 Chevy my dad used to have.
I got it off. All cleaned up and repainted ready to put on my 72 K10. Well I go to put it on this evening and most of the holes don’t line up! So does anyone on here know if I just have the wrong guard? Or do I need to cut and weld on some new tabs for it? Thanks in advance! |

Re: Grille guard help!
I think the correct question is "Do I have the right bumper?"
If this guard came off your dad's 69 chevy, it should fit a correct bumper. Was your dad's bumper modified in any way?

Re: Grille guard help!
I had that thought too. As for the bumper on his truck being modified I have no idea. He had it when I was young and I can’t quite remember. But I’ve had the bumper on the truck since I’ve had it and it lines up with the frame holes fine. Which is why I was kinda lost.

Re: Grille guard help!
From what I see in your pictures, your dad must have made an extra hole in his bumper to accommodate this guard. It would have had the two bolts that line up on either side in their proper places through the grill guard/bumper/brackets, and the two other bumper bolts that do not line up only securing the bumper to the bumper brackets. Then the two extra holes drilled into the bumper would secure ONLY the out-of-line grill guard mounting tabs.
I would remove the two stray mounting tabs, and weld them into the right position before drilling into my bumper.

Yes sir! It came off of a 69 and it has a slight curve to it to match the front of my 72
