Re: Tried them all but still can't decide

I have those on my truck. I turn them in, specifically for a reason. Had a couple of people get too close, once before I bought the truck. It can make a mess of the door in minor situations.

Something to think about.

Man, like the Bonnie and Clyde death car I prefer smaller mirrors but I think those look cool!

Re: Tried them all but still can't decide

My K20 originally had the same mirrors as in your pic, but mine were painted. Several years ago I switched to similar style aftermarket stainless mirrors but never really cared for them due to vibration.
My truck's being painted and after much consideration, I decided on stainless DG4 mirrors like in the following pic (not my truck). I think they are the best compromise.
Big enough to work well, small enough to look good.

I agree with Stocker. Not too big. Not too small. Minimal vibration.

Re: Tried them all but still can't decide

What truck is this? It depends. Those camper mirrors are intended to be flipped inward unless using to tow or haul a wide camper. A lot of people don't get that are ride around with big dumbo ears hanging out ready to snag something when there is no need for them to be way out there. It's actually too far to give a good view...if you like to see a piece of your truck in the mirror like I do.

Re: Tried them all but still can't decide

I got a set of the big camper mirrors like in post 1 on my shelf. I think they are original to the truck. One of them hit something pretty good and bent one of the supports. Probably why they aren't installed anymore. I'd REALLY like to get them installed again one day.

Re: Tried them all but still can't decide

Thanks for all the help everyone and I am sorry to have wasted your time.
I had posted it as kind of a joke. I saw this truck at the swap meet and laughed out loud when I saw it had had 4 different mirrors bolted to it over the years.
Once again thank you all for being so helpful.

Re: Tried them all but still can't decide

Ok, I get the humor now! I've had the same thought before. Hey, at least they were careful not to put any extra holes in by using one of the original holes! That was probably owner #4. Each mirror marks the preference of each owner . Or maybe the same owner who kept backing into things, so the mirrors went from orig to closer to bigger to even bigger! If the original owner had lived long enough I'm sure Sr West Coasts were next

Re: Tried them all but still can't decide

When people can't decide on mirrors, I always chime in with my own solution: chrome up a set of West Coast Seniors!

I do love how the one you posted looks to have had ALL the mirrors at one time or another!

Re: Tried them all but still can't decide

This is my Dorky Cheapskate mirror. The PO had installed the Pep Boys POS Made In China units, the right one was totally useless. So I modified it, didn't have to drill new holes, didn't cost a penny.

But someday I will get proper mirrors, after y'all help me to decide too.

This is still a good thread, something new.

The Camper Special Full Size Mirrors do not vibrate. Only way to go better is getting a set done by Dave!

Re: Tried them all but still can't decide

When I bought my 71 in November it had after market 4 bolt camper style mirror. The doors were destroyed by people hitting the mirrors. I am going to replace doors, not worth the debt pulling and putty. Looking to find near factory reproduction. Would love to see more pictures of mirrors.

I went from the small rectangular to round (wish I’d have kept them) for the looks - but also glad about having the big back window for visibility.

Re: Tried them all but still can't decide

I can't seem my self not running Camper Mirrors Even on a short bed fleet side. I keep telling people that I'm not a Body man. I rather have crazy stupid big Mirrors on my truck so I can keep from backing into something or changing lanes and smack someone and roll my truck. Them small stick mirrors that came on the trucks back in the day were fine for that time. Nowadays Too many people too many Car's. I'm a longevity kinda person. Everything I own and drive is still around after 10 years. How many of you can Claim that Prize? And I mean drive it almost every day for work an play.
