Getting parts together to add ac with vintage air

First, will vintage air work with you and let you purchase a “kit” assuming you already have certain components?

I have a 67 no air cab. I bought a low profile mini sanden compressor to get it on the block before I set the engine. So I already have a brand new compressor. I don’t know if it’s usable with a newer ac setup but I also have a pretty nice, original ac control from an ac truck. Right now I’ll still need the rest of the system.

I have the option to purchase some original round dash vents and the center vent from an original truck I’ll just paint it the color of my dash. If I cut the holes in my dash will these original vents mate up or to cut holes, or do ac dashes have more than just a hole? Is the metal shaped or formed to accept the round vents? Since I’m purchasing an aftermarket kit anyway, would it be better to just use their vent kit for a non ac cab? Assuming the original vents are ok to use in my non ac cab, and assuming they are a “more original or better-looking” option what do they typically sell for when comparing to retrofit vents with a complete kit?

A factory ac truck and a non ac truck have different dashes it’s way easier to buy a kit for a non ac truck I think they have a kit without the ac though. Personally I would call them or email them to find out what they did once they may not do again

They will let you do any portion of their kit that you want. You can use your AC controller with a non-Ac cab or what ever combination. It might be best to talk to them directly when ordering.
When you order a complete kit, it is broken down into sub-assemblies, each with its own part number, parts list and instructions. For variations on the complete kit, they just provide different sub-assemblies.

Personally, I'd use their controller. The modifications to a factory controller are extensive and hokey , but they do seem to be reliable.

Yeah. After reading through the instructions it looks like the vintage air control is the way to go.

I just installed their AC using the factory controller in the truck with their conversion kit. Pretty easy and straight forward. Not hokey. Just an opinion from someone who's done it.

Has anyone used a different AC compressor and POA valve with their factory AC successfully?

I have a sanden compressor on my Cummins with everything else stock, works good. Probably a few pics and description in my crew cab build thread.

That sanden mini compressor with mounting bracket wasn’t cheap. I’m hoping to see a reasonable discount from vintage for not needing that part of the kit.
