What Differential?
Can someone please let me know what differential I have in my 72 K20? It has 10 bolts on the cover and I'll attach a picture if that helps.
Thank you.

Re: What Differential?
Looks like the Eaton HO52 in my 70 C20.

Re: What Differential?
Thank you. Trying to order a differential cover so I can make sure I order the correct one.

Re: What Differential?
To echo the above replies -- yes, it is an Eaton, and what is wrong with the cover? Unless you're looking for a custom cover. I'm not sure if they are made for Eatons (but I have never looked either).

Re: What Differential?
Don't know if you are considering and aftermarket diff. cover, or a refurbished original OEM cover.
If you are considering an aftermarket one, I highly recommend that you look at the work and videos on You Tube by Gale Banks. Some of the aftermarket covers do not allow for the proper lubrication of the differential gearing. But some do. Differential covers are not an appearance cover. They are structural and facilitate the correct splashing of the gear oil onto the gears. If you buy an aftermarket diff. cover, it must closely mimic the shape of the original cover. I am a retired mechanical engineer. But an amateur gearhead first! A Yoda master mechanic friend of mine told me to be careful on diff covers and told me about the work Gail Banks is doing in this area. Did not even know who Gale Banks was at the time. He is probably the premier diesel engine guy out there. Terry |

Re: What Differential?
Gale Banks built his reputation on turbocharging all kinds of engines. He's now branched out into all kinds of performance stuff, but turbos are still his stock in trade. There's probably no one more knowledgeable about them. I have one of his kits on my 5.9 diesel in my motorhome.

Re: What Differential?
Sorry guys, I had meant to say to order the gasket, not the cover.
