Window division bar felt question

I recently purchased the 8 piece door window seal kit from GMC Pauls. Before I start pulling out my old seals I thought I should ask about my division bar. It appears to have some stainless trim along the edges. The one on the inside of the passenger door is damaged as you can see in the picture. Is this part of the felt and will just go away when I remove the old or is it actually part of the division bar? The new division bar felts I got do not have any stainless edging. Do I need it? If so can it be fixed without replacing the whole division bar?

Re: Window division bar felt question

stainless trim goes all the way to the bottom pull it off and forget about it . Really needs to be replaced about $30.00

Re: Window division bar felt question

Thanks. I assumed it was just added trim and not essential but wanted to make sure it didn’t serve to help secure the felt before I started taking it out.
