inline experts needed, 6cyl. exhuast/intake
Can anyone tell me an easy way to tell if a chevy 6 intake/ exhuast unit will fit on a 250, are all chevy 6s the same? Will the 235 parts exchange with the 250? any help appreciated

NO, the 216/235 will not interchange with the 230, 250, 292. All of the 230, 250, 292 will interchange, with the excception of some of the exhaust manifolds on the 292. Some of the 292s had a larger exhaust pipe. These are identified by a 3 bolt flange. Hope this helps.

thanks guys, picked up an intake exaust with carb still on for a friend that needs an exhaust manifold, but I suspect it may be 235 it has an external canister oil filter attached, only payed $20 so if it wont fit may yard sale it, will try to check reference from gm cast #s, has 2 bolt flange for exhaust pipe. Didnt 250s have an oil filter?

Actually, PanelD_, it's:
www.inliners.org I think for '63 to '67 L6s used the replaceable element type oil filter, after '67 they used the disposable unit type. They could be updated easily to the spin-on type. [PF-35,PH13,wix51061] Also the early trucks came with an oil bath type air cleaner, no idea how that worked -- I went from a paper element in the stock air cleaner to a 3" x 14" paper element [on a 390 Holley 4 Bbl], to a 4" x 12" K&N. Oil filter on "late" L6s was on passenger side forward, under distributor.

Also try Cliffords Performance. They have a wide range of performance parts for the inlines.

Look at the lifter covers on the passenger side. If there are 2 separate covers, it's the later-type 6. If there's one long one, it's the older one.
