Howdy from SW AZ
Just picked this one up locally a couple of days ago. Still on a huge learning curve for me with these trucks.
It's 72 C20 that was converted to 4WD. Previous owner said it's sitting on a 1 ton chassis, but I don't know for sure. Also said it has a 454 BBC, which I won't know till I run some numbers on it. Does have an SM 465 4 speed, but was originally an auto. Looks like it will need the normal rust repair on the floor and the doors, and I need to try and source a new seat, and get rid of that ugly red one that's in it Essentially this will be a farm truck for around the house, but the wife already seems to have me pegged as it being another project vehicle ( I am already working on a 69 Camaro for the last 7 years) I'll be asking a lot of stupid questions I'm sure, so please be patient with me. I'll use the search function as best as I can. TIA |

Welcome from Northern AZ. Saw that truck listed a few months ago. Congrats!

Ahh Flagstaff, nice!! I just happen to be looking through the Facebook markeplace and saw it. Turned out he was right down the street (5 miles) Maybe I overpaid for it ($4000), but to have it close enough to drive home, was nice for a change. The engine runs good, and doesn't smoke or anything. Truck just seems to need some TLC, more than anything.

Just a lot of mickey mouse things going on. Mainly wiring. Someone went through the trouble to put a nice fuse block with blade fuses, but butchered the crap out of the wiring when terminating it all.

Re: Howdy from SW AZ
I'm guessing the original color of the truck was the light baby poop green
And I'm thinking, I'm not going to put much trust in this Gooseneck hitch

Re: Howdy from SW AZ
OK, so now the intro is complete, where is the best source of parts for these rigs?
LMC, Ebay, Classic Chevy Truck Parts, TMI (I like their interior stuff) are the one's I have bookmarked so far. I'm considering just replacing the entire floor in the cab, so who makes the best sheet metal replacement? In the car world, it seemed like AMD, and Goodmark were the go-to places for sheet metal.

Re: Howdy from SW AZ
Replacing the entire cab floor is a smart thing, my opinion. You have to do most of the bracing and such, to do under door stuff.
Man, it looks like there was soooo much corn cob engineering on your new pickup...your build thread might be entertaining to all of us...excluding you, of course... Carry on!!! |
