Help with heater ducting/controls
I need help putting my heater back together. Is there a diagram somewhere that shows the heater ducting routes and how each of the three cables go? My truck is a '71 c20 cheyenne with A/C. My Haynes helps me none and I have searched high and low. Thanks

Re: Help with heater ducting/controls
Send off for a LMC parts book http://www.lmctruck.com/. their kinda expensive and most guys don't buy from them, but their parts book show really good exploded views of most everything. You can also get an assembly manual from most of the vendors on this board. Click on the link below.

Re: Help with heater ducting/controls
DewDew,
Here are a couple of pictures. The top one goes to the front control arm, the middle one goes behind the heater box and to the bottom, and the bottom one goes around the heater box and into the heater box by the firewall. LockDoc

Re: Help with heater ducting/controls
I know that this post is 7 years old but I am in need of some related information for a '71 stock AC truck. Hopefully one of you fine gentlemen can share some wisdom with me.

I won't say you are wrong, I will say you may be partially right. The OP asked about a '71 A/C truck which I overlooked, so my pictures are for a '71 with the Deluxe Air Heater and no A/C. The cables and routing in the pictures are correct for that truck. I have another '71 which I am the 2nd owner of. I have the heater box loose from the firewall to clean out a mouse nest but the original cables are still connected to the heater box. I just went out and double checked it and the cables are in the same location and connected exactly like the pictures I posted above, with the short cable going from the defrost lever to the defrost door on the front of the heater box. The short cable will not reach the lever on the bottom of the heater box for the air door. The cables on a truck with the Standard Heater may be different, and there may be some differences between years, but I stand by my information as posted above.... LockDoc
