Gearbox/clutch help.
So I have a 350ci 1969 c10 and the clutch is high. Now it’s not slipping but I’d like to get it sorted. I reckon I need a new clutch but need to know what box is actually in the truck. I’ve taken a pic of what numbers I could off the box.
Anything worth knowing before getting on with the job? Any tips or tricks? Cheers David |

Pictures are kind of vague, hard to ID The transmission. Get a good side shot of the transmission from the left. You do know the clutch travel is adjustable, yes?

What do you mean by ‘high’?
If you mean pedal height that can be adjusted. Forget the numbers. Zoom out on your pic of the trans. Number of side cover bolts will tell you more. |

Ok guys, sorry everything else needs the numbers this doesn’t! Ha learning all the time. I’ll go take a snap now. Be back in 5. Thanks for the quick replies. Oh and so by the clutch being high, there isn’t any travel in the pedal before the clutch engages and it seems to need to be almost fully depressed to actually select gears smoothly.

These are the best I can get. And adjustment sounds good! Could do without the expense right now. How do I check and adjust? Cheers

Looks like a Saginaw.
In post #15 in this link is a pic of the adjustment point. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=416437 If you loosen the two lock nuts and rotate the threaded rod clockwise, the slack will be taken up in the linkage and the throw out bearing will contact the clutch fingers sooner. You don’t want it right tight though. You want a little play in it. If the pedal is set up right you should have about 2 inches of free movement in the pedal before you feel any resistance. Don’t forget to tighten the lock nuts. |

So the pedal is adjusted correctly already, and there are no issues with selecting gear this morning. So that’s kind of stumped me. Going for a run this afternoon so can see what’s occurring. If nothing happens I’m just gonna change to gearbox oil anyway as I’m not sure when it was done!
